getting started

Welcome to Owldid.

Owldid is your school's operating system — one place for students, classes, exams, fees, attendance, transport and messaging. This guide explains every part: what it is and what it does.

Your first 15 minutes

Set things up in this order.

Each step builds on the one before it.

1
Add your classes

Grade 1, Form 2, and so on. Exams, attendance and students all attach to a class.

2
Add your subjects

Maths, English, Science… Exams and marks are recorded per subject.

3
Add your students

Each student joins a class and can list guardian contacts. Already have students on paper? Use CSV import to add them in bulk.

4
Invite your staff

Teachers, a bursar, a nurse, drivers. Each gets a role that decides what they can see and do.

5
Set your fee categories

Tuition, admission, computer lab… set the amounts your school charges. Adopting Owldid with students already enrolled? After importing, open Fees and clear the admission charges so they only apply to new students.

6
You're running

Take attendance, create an exam, record a payment. Everything below is now ready to use.

Running the school day

Dashboard

Your home screen — a live snapshot of the school: headcounts, alerts and quick links to everything else.

Students

The student register. Add a student with their class, admission number and guardian contacts. Admission fees are charged automatically when a student is added.

Classes

Your class groups. Assign a class teacher and see each class's roster of students.

Subjects

The subjects your school teaches. Exams and marks are organised around this list.

Attendance

Mark who is present each day, class by class. Parents can see their own child's attendance record.

Exams & results

Exams

Create an exam for a class — it automatically covers every subject. Open results for a per-student score table and an "average % per subject" graph.

Marks

Enter scores: pick an exam and a subject, then type a score for each student in that class.

Performance

A single student's full report card — every subject, every exam. This is the one thing Owldid lets you print or export.

Who sees scores

Marks and exam results are visible only to admins, teachers, parents and students — and a student only ever sees their own.

Fees & money

Finance

Invoices, payments and student balances. See who owes what, record a payment, and message a parent their child's exact balance — one student, or every parent who owes, at once.

Fees (categories)

The catalogue of what you charge — admission, tuition, computer lab. Bulk-edit amounts, and "clear charges" to drop a fee from students who shouldn't owe it. Bulk changes ask for your admin password.

Billing

Your school's own Owldid subscription — plan and renewal status. Admin only.

Students never see fees

Fee balances are hidden from the student role entirely. Parents are told their balance; students are not.

People

Teachers

Your teaching staff and the classes they hold.

Parents

Guardian accounts. A parent linked to a student sees that child's marks, attendance and school bus.

Staff & permissions

Every staff account and exactly what each can do. Set a role, or fine-tune which tabs a person can open. Admin only.

Care & logistics

Library

The book catalogue and who has borrowed what.

Sickbay

The school nurse's log of health visits and treatments.

Transport

Your vehicles and their drivers, plus a live bus map. Drivers share GPS while on duty; parents see only their own child's bus. Only an admin can add or change vehicles.

Communication

Announcements

School-wide notices that reach staff, parents and students.

Chat

Direct and group messaging between staff, parents and students.

Admin tools — in the account menu, top-right

At-risk insights

Students automatically flagged by patterns in attendance, fees or marks, so no one slips through.

CSV import

Bulk-add students from a spreadsheet — the fastest way to move an existing school onto Owldid.

Data & migration

Back up and export your school's data, and restore it if needed.

Audit log

A dated record of who did what — useful for accountability and tracing changes.

Roles — who sees what

Every account has a role. The role decides which tabs appear and what they can change.

Admin

Full access. The only account that manages staff, billing and bulk fee changes.

Head teacher & class teacher

Students, classes and attendance — the day-to-day running of teaching.

Teacher

Attendance, exams and marks for the classes they teach.

Bursar

Finance — invoices, payments and student balances.

Nurse & librarian

The sickbay log and the library, respectively.

Driver

The transport map and a duty toggle to start sharing the bus's location.

Parent

Their own child's marks, attendance, bus and the school's announcements.

Student

Their own marks, attendance, library and announcements. Students never see fee balances.

Stuck on something specific? Use the search box at the top, or ask your school's Owldid admin.
